The Noida homebuyers group Noida Extension Flat Owners Welfare Association (Nefowa) on August 10 staged a sit down protest outside the Greater Noida Authority. They were representing issues of Amrapali group buyers. The buyers demanded that all financial responsibilities of the builders towards the buyers be disclosed formally.
“After delaying the projects for years, we found hope when the Noida and Greater Noida Authority started working on a home delivery schedule. We thought that the houses would be made and delivered. For last many months construction at Amrapali sites have come to a grinding halt. There are 40,000 apartments stuck. What are the buyers supposed to do if the company is declared insolvent?” Abhishek Kumar, President, Nefowa, said.
“We held a day-long sit down dharna outside GNIDA on August 11. There is a sense of despair among Amrapali buyers after recent news of their financial debacle. No one is making a formal statement to the buyers. What should we do next? Most buyers are at a wits end,” Shweta Bharti, General Secretary, Nefowa, said.
